Brenda Bohnsack, MD, PhD is Division Head of Ophthalmology at the Ann & Robert H. Lurie Children’s Hospital of Chicago and the Lillian Sherman Cowen Rieger and Harold L. S. Cowen Research Professor of Pediatric Ophthalmology. Her clinical specialty is the diagnosis and surgical management of congenital eye diseases and childhood glaucomas. Her clinical research focuses on the outcomes and therapeutic advancements in these complex pediatric diseases. Dr. Bohnsack also has a basic science laboratory which uses both in vivo (zebrafish) and in vitro (embryonic stem cells) systems to model congenital eye anomalies in order to understand disease pathogenesis.
