Dr. Cheefoong Chong is an esteemed Fellow of the Australian and New Zealand College of Ophthalmologists (RANZCO). He earned his Doctor of Medicine from the University of Auckland, along with a Master of Medicine in Ophthalmology, and a Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery with Honours. Dr. Chong serves as a Consultant Comprehensive and Paediatric Ophthalmologist at three major teaching hospitals in New Zealand and is the Co-Chair of the New Zealand Eye Health National Clinical Network Childhood Expert Workstream. Specialising in paediatric ophthalmology and strabismus, he contributes to academia as an Honorary Senior Lecturer at the University of Auckland and has an extensive publication record. Dr. Chong is dedicated to advancing ophthalmic care and education, notably through his involvement with the New Zealand National Retinoblastoma Service since 2021. Additionally, he serves as the Co-director of Training for the RANZCO Education Committee in New Zealand, ensuring high standards of ophthalmic care and education nationwide.
