Dr Haizul Ikhwan Bin Murat M.D (UKM), Doctor of Ophthalmology (UKM), is a Head of Ophthalmology Department in Hospital Sultan Haji Ahmad Shah, Temerloh, Pahang. He has been actively involved in MOH Cataract Carnival in Pahang since 2015, that provide mass cataract surgery to people living in remote area at lower cost and closed to their home. He is also a member of Asia Pacific Ocular Trauma Society (APOTS). He is a principal investigator (PI) of ongoing Malaysia Ocular Trauma Study (MOTS) that aim to study on clinical characteristics and visual outcomes of ocular trauma patients treated in Ministry of Health (MOH) facilities in Malaysia. In addition, he is also a co-author of Surgical Site Infection (SSI) Prevention and Surveillance Guideline that provide a reference for healthcare workers in Malaysia for the prevention, diagnosis, surveillance and management of SSI. He is also hold a position as a coordinator for Medical Specialist Pre Entrance Examination (MEDEX) and a coordinator for post basic and advance diploma training in Ophthalmology for paramedics and nurses. Besides that, he is also a member of National Intraocular Lens Bank (BKIOK), Ophthalmology Assets Committee and Prevention of Blindness Committee (PBL). He also involved in innovation project called Diabetic Retinopathy (DR) Virtual Clinic that provide virtual consultation DR with health clinics using a ‘Trello’ application.  He has published few papers in journals and actively presented scientific papers in research symposiums.
