Inderjeet Kaur

India

Dr Inderjeet Kaur is a trained molecular geneticist with expertise in transcriptomics and protein biology. Her lab at the Prof Brien Holden Eye Research Centre, LVPEI is dedicated to understanding the molecular mechanisms contributing to neuroinflammation, neurodegeneration and neovascularization in the pathogenesis of retinal vascular diseases (AMD, ROP, DR and Uveitis) by using multi-disciplinary approaches and comprehensive strategies. The lab is currently focused to identify the novel genes/ proteins/ metabolites in the diseased tissues that can aid in developing rapid and early diagnostic tools and novel therapeutic interventions for reducing the burden of childhood blindness caused by a major ocular complication of preterm birth known as the retinopathy of prematurity. Her research group involves students across different disciplines and regions and collaborators from both India and abroad. Significant research findings from her lab have been published in high impact peer reviewed journals and are funded by both international and national agencies.
