Dr. Irene Cheah was a Consultant Paediatrician and Neonatologist at Hospital Kuala Lumpur. She is a strong advocate and has trained many professionals in the field of child protection. Dr. Cheah served as the Chair of the Hospital Kuala Lumpur SCAN (Suspected Child Abuse and Neglect) team from year 2000 until 2019 and was also a member of the KL Federal Territory child protection team. She was a member of the National Coordinating Council for the Protection of Children 2011/2012 and from 2018-2020.
