Dr Kala obtained both undergraduate and postgraduate degrees at University Malaya, Kuala Lumpur. She subsequently completed her oculoplastic training at Singapore National Eye Centre, Singapore under the guidance of Dr Sunny Shen. She is currently working as Consultant Ophthalmologist and Oculoplastic Surgeon at Hospital Kuala Lumpur and Oasis Eye Specialists. She is the current vice chairperson of Malaysian Society of Ophthalmic Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery.
