I did my residency in Ophthalmology in the Antwerp University Hospital (UZA) from 2009 to 2013 under Prof. Dr. Marie-José Tassignon. After finishing my residency, I continued to work as a staff member at the same hospital focusing on cataract surgery and anterior segment surgery, as well as uveitis. Through the years, I have developed a special interest in pediatric cataract and other lens disease. I had the privilege of working with Marie-José Tassignon and I am grateful to be able to share in her extensive experience in the field of pediatric cataract surgery. I am currently finishing a PhD on the subject of pediatric lens disease. In our centre, we receive patients from all over Belgium as well as other EU-countries for treatment of pediatric lens disease with the Bag-in-the -lens technique. Working with children has certainly further increased the joy I find in working as an ophthalmologist.
