Dr Sandra Staffieri AO is a Clinical and Research Orthoptist with 40 years’ experience in paediatric ophthalmology at the Royal Children’s Hospital where she developed the unique role of Retinoblastoma Care Co-ordinator. Dr Staffieri is active in retinoblastoma research with a focus on raising awareness of early signs of the disease, translation of genetic testing for familial or heritable retinoblastoma and long-term survivorship, including procedural anxiety. To improve timely diagnosis of retinoblastoma, her doctoral study developed and evaluated a sustainable education program for parents to raise awareness of the early signs of paediatric eye disease.
