Dr Tarjani Dave Associate Director Campus In-charge for Quality and Education Consultant, Ophthalmic Plastic Surgery Service L V Prasad Eye Institute, Hyderabad, India Visiting Assistant Ophthalmologist, Univ. of Rochester Dr. Dave gained an undergraduate degree at the Lokmanya Tilak Municipal Medical College and General Hospital, Sion, Mumbai in 2006. She pursued her post-graduation in Ophthalmology at Shri Ganapati Netralaya, Jalna. She further received specialized training in orbital disease and oculofacial surgery at the L V Prasad Eye Institute, Hyderabad and practiced in Mumbai for a couple of years. Currently she is a full-time faculty at the L V Prasad Eye Institute, working out of the Kallam Anji Reddy Campus, Banjara Hills and the Lahoti Eye Center, Madhapur, Hyderabad. An accomplished academic, Dr. Dave has authored more than 65 peer-reviewed publications and book chapters. She lectures widely at the regional, national and international levels on a range of topics related to orbital, facial and socket surgery. Her research interests mirror her clinical focus and relate to orbital diseases particularly: thyroid eye disease, orbital vascular malformations, orbital infections and management of orbital fractures and anophthalmia. She heads the Ocularistry laboratory at L V Prasad Eye Institute and has brought in many innovations to India like the orbital tissue expander for congenital anophthalmia, osseo-integrated exenteration prosthesis and the use of patient specific implants for the management of orbitofacial fractures and migrated orbital implants. She also has a specific interest in the physiology of ptosis, eyelid malpositions and cosmetic oculo-facial surgery. She intersects with other scientists across a variety of academic disciplines and maintains collaborative interdisciplinary relationships on projects relating to imaging, histopathology, microbiology, big data and artificial intelligence. Dr. Dave is a passionate teacher at all levels of training in Ophthalmology. She has mentored over 20 Ophthalmic Plastic Surgery Fellows, 17 Ophthalmology Residents and is involved in teaching Ophthalmology residents in Liberia. She is the recipient of the AIOS best poster award 2011 and 2018, AIOS best paper award in Oculoplasty in 2018 and 2019 and an international best paper award for thermal imaging in thyroid eye disease in the year 2020 from the joint conference of Korea-Japan-China Ophthalmologists. In her leisure time she enjoys gardening, cooking and the company of her kids.
