Dr Zahra Rashid has a Masters in Optometry from Cardiff University, UK and a PhD from the University of Kwa-Zulu Natal, South Africa where she developed a model for the screening, diagnosis and management of keratoconus. She was one of the pioneers in setting-up low vision services at Kikuyu Eye Hospital and the schools for the visually impaired and in developing and teaching the first low vision curriculum for teachers and ophthalmic clinical officers in Kenya. She has been practicing for 23 years, currently working in private practice at Gertrudes Children’s Hospital, Nairobi. She is passionate about raising the standards of eye care for children in Africa.
